Resolved Question: In regard to the Fort Hood shooting, isn’t this a double standard?
In regard to the past two horrific shooting events that took place: Fort Hood shooting on November 5th and Orlando office shooting on November 6th, why is it everyone is calling Nidal Malik Hasan a “terrorist” but not Jason Samuel Rodriguez? Both individuals committed the same crime but yet because Nidal Malik Hasan is a muslim everyone including the mainstream media have called him a “terrorist” and called the event an “act of terrorism”. The Orlando office shooting event while not causing as many casualties was still atrocious but yet no one is calling Jason Samuel Rodriguez a terrorist. Is this not a double standard? There’s this myth in America that only muslims can be terrorists. Terrorists can be of any nationality or religion. Let me remind everyone Timothy McVeigh who was responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing was not muslim. Also Theodore Kaczynski also known as the “unabomber” was not muslim. There’s also several non-muslim terrorist groups in the world: the Irish Republican Army of Northern Ireland, the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka, the International Sikh Youth Federation of India and even in Canada in the 1960’s there was a french terrorist group called Quebec Liberation Front. My point is people need to stop being naive and ignorant in the misconception that only muslims can be terrorists. Jason Samuel Rodriguez is no different then Nidal Malik Hasan.
Just to clarify, when I say “Jason Samuel Rodriguez is no different then Nidal Malik Hasan.” I don’t mean personality wise or that their motives were exactly the same. What I mean is that they both committed the same crime, both were fueled with anger and both appeared to do this out of the motive of revenge. With Nidal Malik Hasan it was supposedly due to his harassment relating to his Islamic faith and with Jason Samuel Rodriguez it was supposedly due to losing his job. Both motives are not exacly the same but they were both due to both individuals taking revenge due to feeling that they were wronged.
